Social Media Image Sizes: Facebook, LinkedIn, You Tube, Twitter (updated)

Bookmark this page! All the Social Media image sizes you need to get started!

facebook

Cover Photo: 851 x 315 px
You can’t upload a cover photo that’s less than 720 px wide. For sharp, crisp images, start with a canvas that’s twice the size (1702 x 630 px). For images with text or graphics, you may get a higher quality result by using a PNG file.
Profile Picture: 160 x 160 px
Profile pictures must be at least 180 x 180 px to upload. Rectangular images will be cropped from the center of the image. When you post an update, comment or like someone else’s page, your profile picture will appear at 90 x 90 px.

Timeline Image: 403 x 403 px
Highlighted Image: 843 x 403 px
The maximum file size for uploaded images is 2048 x 2048 px. Photos uploaded to your timeline can be viewed up to 960 x 720 px in the lightbox. Larger images will display from the center of the image. Fans can opt to view an image in full-screen mode which will present it at the maximum allowable size.

linkedin

Cover Photo: 646 x 220 px
Shared Link Image: 180 x 110 px
Products & Services Banner: 646 x 220 px
Careers Cover Photo: 974 x 238 px
Product Image: 100 x 80 px

youtube

Channel Icon: 90 x 90 px
For best results upload an 800px by 800px image. Maximum file size is 1MB. Non-square images will be cropped. Remember: If you want to create any separation between your channel icon and your channel artwork, you will need to include a border within your channel icon.

twitter

The header photo area now gets taller as your screen gets wider. It’s trying to maintain the same 3:1 ratio but it doesn't do it perfectly. In my tests, the buffer area in my template still works as a guide.
The header photo area starts at a height of 280px and grows to a height of 500px. Not sure if that’s the max height, but that still means that cover photo is being displayed in a 1920x500px window.
On my HD screen of 1920×1080, the top and bottom of the header (still) get cropped off. My recommended buffer zone is the 55px at the top and bottom of the graphic.
One nice thing is that the profile photo is now much larger, it is displayed at 200x200px compared to 73x73px on the “old” layout. Twitter does recommend that profile photos are 400×400 though.

IFTTT - Getting things done automatically

Ifttt - Automation with ease.

Ifttt is a tool that can be used by anyone - and it does a bunch of different things:

Some of the "recipes" for everyday life include simple task such as Turn your phone on silent when you get to a common destination, such as work, or school.  Another task that Ifttt can automate is your social media accounts - if you post on Facebook, share that same post on Twitter, and LinkedIn, and email it to your mom...(Hi Mom)

See Social J Marketing's recipe for a blog post chain reaction:
All of the above boils down to: We make a blog post to blogger, it sends a link of that post to our Facebook Company Page, and then to our LinkedIn account, from LinkedIn to my personal Facebook account, and from my Facebook to Twitter. 1 action = 3 other actions automatically.

Businesses can use this tool also: Make a time log in your Google Drive account to keep track of when you get to work and when you leave. Maybe you drive for work need to log your mileage: Send a simple text to yourself and have it time stamped, with your odometer reading and location.

Did I mention this is free? It's free...
You can browse though recipes made by others and apply those recipes to your life.

To grasp the full potential of this tool, I recommend visiting their site, and click around a bit to see the creative "recipes" Ifttt users have created.
